How old are you?

I was born in 1995 – so I am currently 23 years-old! Next question!

Where can I learn more magic?

Once you’ve completed all three levels, you can learn more magic from books, DVDs, or from other magicians. Visit your local library and go to the magic call-number 793.8 to find all the magic books. The closest magic shops to Washington DC are IFO Toys in Winchester, Denny & Lee’s Magic Shop in Baltimore, and The Magic Warehouse in Owings Mills, Maryland. For the serious magician, I recommend joining a magic club, such as The Society of American Magicians or The International Brotherhood of Magicians. Of course, you can also find more magic tutorials on YouTube.

How did you learn magic?

Naturally, I first learned magic from The Great Shoedini when he gave me his magical blue shoes. But I still had to practice a lot to get where I am today. I learned from books in the library, from magic shops, and even from local magicians. But the best teacher is experience – by performing magic for others!

How should I practice magic?

I recommend practicing magic in front of a mirror so you know how the trick will look from the audience’s point-of-view. You can also record yourself on camera and play it back to see how it looks. You should master the sleights first and then work on developing a fun presentation for each magic trick.

How often should I practice?

That is a good, but tough question! If you want to get really good at magic, you should practice everyday. You should practice each trick until you can perform it flawlessly (and without feeling nervous!). Once you’ve mastered a magic trick, practice it again! Even the best magicians practice every day.

If you really know magic, why don’t you just make your paycheck appear?

That’s a good question….
